Jazir Lagoon

Located approximately 7 hours drive from Muscat or 2 hours transfer from Duqm Airport, in the Wusta region of Oman, Jazir lagoon has been labelled one of the best kite locations in Oman, and is certainly worth the journey. The 5km sandbar separating the lagoon from the Arabian Gulf is an ideal location for an extended kite-camp. Easily accessible and only a few kilometres from the small town of Al Jazir offering all means of services: hospital, supermarket, fuel station and restaurants. If you need to connect for business or personal reasons, the site is perfectly located to benefit from 4G telecommunications.

The lagoon itself is shallow offering perfect flat-water conditions for beginners and advanced kiters and plenty of room. The ocean side is also part of a larger lagoon although not as protected but equally offering excellent conditions with the southeasterly side to side on-shore winds. The downwinder session to the end of the sand bar and return up-wind in the lagoon offers kiters the opportunity for a fun-filled session.

Travel to and from Al Jazir can be made easier if you are flying in from outside Oman. The new city of Duqm has a new airport and can be reached from several Middle Eastern countries, or Muscat. It is a 2-2.5 hour transfer from Duqm and we can organise transfers.

Accommodation: we organise our own tented beach camp with all facilities and meals. Hotels can also be found in Duqm.

Barr al Hickman

One of the most remote locations for a kite-surfari is the area of Barr al Hickman, an area of flat desert marshland about 500km from Muscat. The drive takes approximately 5 hours and the views are definitely worth the journey. Barr al Hickman must be one of the most scenic of our kite spots with white sandy beaches and turquoise lagoons skirting the southern edges of the area.

Barr al Hickman is also home to Oman’s largest migratory bird reserves, making it a paradise for twitchers who visit the lagoons from around the globe.

The kiting possibilities are superb, and both beginners and advanced riders can enjoy several days of perfect wind conditions during the season between May and September.

Camping is always fun and never crowded. Guests will need to get used to using the wild bathroom, but it is possible to enjoy a shower or two with the portable units we supply.

Communications in Barr al Hickman are also limited with very weak to non-existent phone signal. GET are always carrying a satellite phone should it be required for emergency use, so be prepared to enjoy the technology-free adventure.

Grand Tour

Combine our best destinations and tailor your extended time in Oman. Include Jazir Lagoon, Barr al Hickman, Masirah and Aseelah or Ras al Hadd depending on your level of riding.

To get the best of the Grand Tour we advise it only for those with between 9 and 15 days. We suggest wild-camping to start with in Jazir or Barr al Hickman, and finishing with a bed and breakfast stay in a guest-house or resort where you can relax in the comfort of a room with ensuite bathroom. The Grand Tour is pre-bookable and subject to availability. If you have a small group wishing to participate in the trip contact us for the best rates and options to build your tour.

Camping

For the majority of our Kitesurf Safari’s our guests will be accommodated in 3-person dome tents, on single or double occupancy (guests choice). Guest can also choose to be accommodated in one of our deluxe bell-tents for an additional supplement. We will provide camping mattress, but ask guests to bring their own sleeping bag/bed linen and pillow – it is more hygienic and allows guests to have some level of their own comfort.

Our safaris include all meals (breakfast lunch and dinner), and we provide drinking water throughout and soft-drinks. Guests will be asked their dietary requirements prior to the tour and will be do our best to meet everyones dietary needs. We also provide bbq, crockery and cutlery. Guests may wish to bring their own drinking vessel (not glass).

Other drinks such as alcoholic drinks are not provided, although guests can buy in duty free if travelling in through the airport. We can provide cool boxes and ice.

Bathrooms: always the one question we are asked. We do provide a port-loo/s (dependent upon number of guests). Showers are pressurised pump showers and will be available for use. Obviously we will have a limit on how much water we can transport so guests are asked to consider this when using.

We will also provide guests with a camp chair, shaded area, and other activities such as paddle-board, snorkelling equipment, football, rugby ball, fishing gear, etc, when the wind is not suitable for kiting.

Transport: We are able to offer transport and transfers for an additional cost, or guests can self-drive to our locations. For guests who choose self-drive, we will be available to assist with guiding/lead vehicle to all of our sites.

All guests will be provided with a detailed itinerary and equipment list prior to the safari and we are always on hand to advise and answer any questions.

Cost: all of our trips are tailored to your needs. Cost of the trip will depend on several factors: Dates, number of days, transport, number of persons, lessons, etc.

Prices

All prices shown are for 2 nights per person.

2 persons minimum requirement, 2 night minimum stay – self-drive.
